Students are bringing home their first "Take Home Task" tonight.  This is homework that will help with our spelling skill of recognizing short vowel sounds.  Please sign the homework sheet and return to school tomorrow.  Your child will receive 5 bonus points on the skill portion of our test tomorrow.  By reviewing the Word Preview and Buddy Check list, your child should be prepared for tomorrow's test.

Please remember to send the bottom portion of the Parent Pack sheet to school with your child.  

Also, Time For Kids money is due the end of the week.

It is very important to check your child's Home Folder each day.  There is important information that comes home that will keep you in touch with what is going on at school.

Beginning this week, I will be sending home a weekly newsletter called "Our Week at a Glance".  This will give an overview of what we will be learning for the week and any other important information.  I will send home a hard copy on Monday, as well as have an electronic copy on our class page.

Today we talked about being a good friend and even signed a "Good Friend" contract.  We did a classroom scavenger hunt that helped us learn about each other.  We also made a graph using our birth dates.

Tomorrow is a regular day-8:50 to 3:30.

We had another great day!  Today we learned a little more about each other-our favorites, likes, dislikes, etc.  We also had Art and Music.  

Feel free to send water bottles with your child as long as the weather is hot.

A note was sent home today about the Time For Kids magazine we use in the classroom.  Please send a check made out to Time For Kids to school with your child.

Early dismissal again Thursday at 1:30.

First Day Notes

What a great first day of school!  Today we learned about classroom procedures and talked about "Above and Below the Line" behaviors.  We had an assembly with a special guest to kick off the year.

Please remember to return the completed papers you received at Open House if you haven't already done so.

We will have early dismissals again on Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30.  Friday will be our first full day of schoool

Welcome to the wonderful world of 3rd grade!  I am looking forward to meeting you and your family on Monday, August 15 at 5:00 for our Ellison Open House.  Bring your supplies and come see some old and new friends.
