Book Reports

The theme for our book reports for the month of November is letter writing.  We will also begin a new unit in writing focusing on writing friendly letters.  The parts of a letter we will study in class are date, greeting, body, closing, and signature.  Each of these letter parts needs to be included in the book report.  In the body of the letter, the students should tell what happened at the beginning, middle, and the end of the book.  Also, as a conclusion, a recommendation for the book and a reason why.  Below you will find a sample book report.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Book reports will be due on Wednesday, November 30th.

Dear Julie,
I just read a book about two friends who went on a trip to the beach.  In the beginning, Sam and Fred decided it would be fun to visit the beach.  They loaded up the car and headed for the ocean.  It took them 2 days to get there.
In the middle, Sam and Fred decided to swim in the ocean.  They had a great time playing in the waves and the water.  The water tasted very salty.
In the end, the friends collected seashells.  They found lots of different kinds of shells to take home to their families.
I recommend that you read this book.  It was very entertaining because Sam and Fred had many fun adventures at the beach.
                                                                          Your friend,
                                                                          Mrs. Miller
